I am a BACP qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with experience working with clients in a variety of settings and hold an up-to-date clear advanced DBS check. I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental place where clients can come to learn about themselves and grow. Through the client and therapist working together, meaningful change can occur. I have sound knowledge of the theoretical counselling approaches and their application to real world settings; having a special interest in Integrative Counselling, CBT, Gestalt, psychodynamic and person-centred approaches.
Throughout my working life, I have been involved in enabling people to grow and change. In addition to working as a psychotherapist, I have a background in healthcare. I have worked in a variety of settings (including mental health and psychiatric settings), as a registered nurse and nurse case manager for over 25 years. I have recent experience working on the front line as a Nurse and a counsellor during the Coronavirus pandemic and understand the struggles essential staff are experiencing first-hand and how this is impacting on mental health and relationships. In addition, I have vast expertise and knowledge of counselling brain and catastrophic injury survivors and their families and have experience working at the Brain injury charity “Headway”.
Besides my formal training, I am a SCUBA diving instructor and believe in the healing powers of water. I am currently researching the benefits of combining my therapeutic practice with either being in the sea or being by the sea.
