I am an accredited counsellor working in both open-ended and time-limited settings. I have a post-graduate diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counselling (distinction) from the University of Brighton, and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred).
My work is rooted in respect for people’s individuality. This includes respecting cultural difference, the ways we might have found to cope with our experiences, and the sense we have made of them. I also believe relationships are incredibly important, both in shaping us in childhood, and in helping us to change later on.
Together we can talk and think about your present difficulties, your past, and any patterns in your thoughts, feelings and relationships. I understand that starting counselling can be very daunting, and you might feel uncertain about whether it is right for you. We can talk about this, too.
Real, lasting change can come through self-understanding. As well as providing a welcoming, confidential space and experienced, non-judgemental support, I believe good counselling and therapy help us to listen to ourselves.
