Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist 1994, I have had a wide range of clinical experience working with children, adolescents and adults. My areas of expertise include – depression; anxiety; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; Obsessive Compulsive Disorders; phobias; panic attacks; parenting difficulties and behaviour problems in young children. My work is guided by the principles of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I work in a flexible way, drawing on Family Therapy and Systemic models where appropriate. My aim is to work with clients to identify specific areas for change, help set realistic goals and work collaboratively to develop new coping strategies that can be put into practice in daily life.
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with 17 years experience in the field of emotional health. I offer an individually tailored approach rooted in the principles of CBT, Ericksonian hypnosis, mindfulness and positive psychology. My aim is always to enhance the client’s own strengths and to offer practical beneficial strategies.
I work with a broad variety of problems including PTSD, early trauma, relationship problems, anxiety, worry, panic attacks, depression, bulimia, self-esteem/confidence, phobias, bereavement, stress, sleep problems and smoking cessation.
I also offer hypnosis for personal development - for example for musicians, writers and performers to enhance their creative potential and for individuals who want to find a new direction in life.
I am a counselling psychologist with over ten years’ experience working in adult mental health settings and am registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). I trained in three different models (person centred, psychodynamic and CBT) and draw on therapeutic approaches known to help clients with their presenting difficulties. Therapy will initially involve a careful assessment and discussion of options. We will then meet for an agreed period of time and work together towards chosen goals. I have worked in a variety of adult mental health settings and am experienced in helping people with difficulties, such as: depression, anxiety, PTSD, childhood trauma and complex emotional needs. Outside of private practice I am employed as a consultant psychologist with a local NHS trust. Please note I am currently only able to offer digital meetings.
I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist that is registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), working in mental health. I specialise in working with children, young people and their families integratively, drawing upon a number of approaches including: Cognitive, Behavioural, Systemic, Mindfulness, Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) and brainspotting.
My special interest is in Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD). I am able to provide ASD assessment and diagnosis alongside a Consultant Psychiatrist as well as post-diagnostic psychological intervention.
The types of difficulties I can help with include: Social anxiety, generalised anxiety, fears and phobias, OCD, stress, low mood and depression, problems with anger, difficulties regulating emotions, diagnostic assessment of ASD, ASD related difficulties, behavioural difficulties, separation, friendship and loss difficulties.
