I am a psychodynamic counsellor offering both short and open-ended therapy. My style is friendly, communicative, collaborative and transparent. I will support you in your experience and will explain the rationale behind my interventions and questions.

I understand that there may be times within our lives where we experience challenges and difficulties and feel unable to cope or perhaps just need to talk to someone in order to feel heard, accepted, respected and understood. At these times speaking to an impartial, non-judgmental professional counsellor can be helpful.

I would hope to co-create a confidential, safe and supportive space where you feel able to explore the thoughts, feelings and situations that are troubling you. I can help you to try to make sense of what is going on, to identify underlying patterns of behaviour and to think about what they might mean to you. Sometimes, relational or behavioural patterns in the present begin in early relationships and past experiences, but the connection may not immediately be apparent.

I would hope that you would be enabled to gain insight and clarity and to move forward with an increased sense of identity, purpose and meaning.

As well as my work as a counsellor I have worked as a barrister for over 20 years, representing and supporting people going through family court proceedings. Whilst this role has allowed me to develop my ability to be with and hopefully understand people who are going through a difficult process, it is not my role to give advice during counselling.

I receive regular clinical supervision for my work. I and am working towards accreditation with the BACP and abide by the ethical framework for good practice. I can offer sessions via skype, where appropriate.

I am a Resolution trained mediator and am happy to facilitate meetings between two or more people where they are struggling with inter personal relationships (be that with partners, friends, family or colleagues) but each want to work towards a solution that is mutually acceptable in a safe setting.

Since qualifying I have completed further CPD training in mindful self-compassion and Mentalization Based Therapy which is recommended for the treatment of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.
